7 Little Johnstons: How will Anna learn how to cook??
I woke up feeling fresh, not a care in the world. Life is taking a good turn. I decided to listen to my dad and take a cooking class at Her Majesty’s Kitchen in Forai. She teaches cooking classes and does catering, and she’s a very good cook.
Cooking is fundamental. I have an uncle who said he wouldn’t let anyone hold his stomach hostage, so he cooks for himself.
My motivation for taking this cooking class is that I moved into my new home and want to eat healthier.
What are your cooking skills like? I have a bit of skill. I just use an air fryer, so I’m here to learn. I don’t see myself as a good cook. I’ve burned ramen noodles twice because I forgot to add water.
Today, I’m going to teach you how to make a one-pan meal. We’ll do citrus herb chicken with potatoes and vegetables.
Once you put everything in the pan and season it, you can walk away from the stove until it’s done. I’m excited because it’s an easy dish. I know how to cut vegetables and fruits, so I’m not worried.
When cutting potatoes, you cut them in half, then into quarters, and finally into cubes. After that, put them in the pan. I don’t think Anna being little affects her cooking ability. Cooking is an ability for anyone willing to try.
Next, place the chicken breast on the oranges and season everything. Sprinkle Creole seasoning on the potatoes, vegetables, and chicken. Bake it at 350° for 30 to 45 minutes. The hardest part might be remembering everything to make it again.
I’m from New Orleans, so we’ll make a Cajun sauce. I wasn’t sure what aioli was, but it sounded like aloe. Aioli is mayonnaise with spices and lemon.
When we tasted the chicken, it was delicious, tender, and flavorful. This dish is easy and can be made in under an hour.
Today, I’m cooking for the family because they are coming over later, but Jonah came early to help me. I learned to make one-pan chicken in the cooking class.
Jonah and I both deal with anxiety, but we found ways to cope. Cooking helps me relax, just like making bracelets.
In class, there was a trick to soak onions in water to avoid tears, but it didn’t work for me. When cutting onions, I had to quit early because my eyes stung.
Jonah stepped in to help speed up the cooking. We wanted dinner ready on time.
We prepared dinner, but I almost forgot the Cajun sauce. I recreated it before the family arrived. Cruiser was locked up, and Jonah was finishing the dish.
I have high expectations because I know Jonah helped Anna a bit, and he takes cooking seriously.
When the family tried the dish, they found it delicious. I was impressed with the dinner. No one choked or spat anything out. It feels good that everyone enjoyed the meal. A job well done!
