The days leading up to Abby Newman’s wedding had been a whirlwind of excitement, anticipation, and joy.

It was meant to be a perfect day, one that she had dreamed of her entire life. Surrounded by family and friends, she would walk down the aisle and marry the love of her life.

But as the wedding day approached, an unsettling feeling began to creep in.

Her mother, Ashley Abbott, had promised to be there, and Abby was counting on it. However, as the hours passed, something began to feel wrong.

Ashley had been unreachable for the entire day, and that wasn’t like her. Abby tried to stay calm, telling herself that her mother was probably just busy with last-minute arrangements, but by the evening before the wedding, panic began to set in.

Tracy Abbott, Abby’s beloved aunt, arrived at the pre-wedding event looking flustered. Her usual bright smile was missing, and there was something off about her energy. Abby noticed immediately.

“Where’s Mom?” Abby asked, trying to keep the worry out of her voice. She knew Tracy had spent time with her mother the day before, and she was hoping for an answer that would put her mind at ease.

Tracy hesitated for a moment before responding, her voice soft but uneasy, “I… I don’t know, sweetheart. She was with Alan in Paris, but he had to leave for urgent business. Alan’s not coming.”

Abby’s heart sank. She had hoped her mother’s new partner, Alan, would be at the wedding as well. But now it seemed like everything was falling apart.

“What about Mom? She promised she’d be here.”

Tracy took a deep breath, clearly fighting her own anxiety. “She said she’d meet us back in Genoa City in time for the wedding. I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation for why she hasn’t shown up yet.”

But Abby wasn’t convinced. Something about Traci tone unsettled her, and she could feel the pit in her stomach growing.

Her mind raced through possibilities—maybe her mother had gotten delayed, or maybe there was some minor emergency. But as the evening progressed, the worry turned to dread.

Later that night, Jack Abbott, Abby’s uncle, walked into the room where Abby and Tracy sat anxiously. His face was pale, and in his hand was his phone, glowing with an ominous message.

“You need to see this,” Jack said gravely, handing the phone to Tracy.

Her eyes widened as she read the words aloud: “If you want to see Ashley alive, cancel the wedding. No police, or she dies.”

Abby gasped, her hands flying to her mouth in disbelief. “What? This can’t be happening,” she whispered, her voice trembling. She felt the room spinning, her world collapsing as the reality of the situation hit her—her mother had been kidnapped, and now her wedding was being held hostage.

“Who would do this?” Abby cried, looking frantically between Jack and Tracy. “Why would anyone hurt Mom?”

Jack’s face was as grim as it had ever been. “I have a terrible suspicion,” he muttered, his mind immediately going to Martin, an old business rival with a history of trying to destroy the Abbott family.

“It must be Martin. He’s been holding a grudge against our family for years, and now he’s using your wedding to get to us.”

“Martin?” Tracy echoed, her voice shaking.

“But… Alan…”

Jack’s expression darkened. “Alan doesn’t exist. Martin was posing as Alan to get close to Ashley and gather information about our family. He’s been planning this for a long time.”

Abby’s knees felt weak, and she collapsed into a chair, tears streaming down her face as she realized the full scope of the betrayal.

Alan, who they had trusted and welcomed into their lives, had been a fabrication—a mask for a man bent on revenge.

“So what do we do?” Abby asked, her voice barely a whisper. “Do we cancel the wedding?”

Tracy shook her head, her hands trembling. “We can’t let him get away with this, but we also can’t risk Ashley’s life. He’s dangerous, Abby.”

Abby broke down in sobs, burying her face in her hands. “I can’t believe this is happening. I don’t care about the wedding anymore. I just want my mom back. I’ll do whatever it takes.”

Jack knelt beside her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. “We’ll find her, Abby. I promise you that. But we need to be smart about this.”

As the night wore on, Jack made several calls to trusted contacts and began strategizing with Paul Williams, the Genoa City police chief, to discreetly track down Martin. They knew any wrong move could put Ashley’s life in further danger.

Meanwhile, Abby felt helpless. Every moment without hearing from her mother made the situation more desperate. She felt like she was living in a nightmare.

The following morning—the wedding day—arrived, but instead of excitement and joy, Abby woke to terror. She had made her decision: she would do what Martin demanded. The wedding was called off.
