Sister Wives: Janelle Brown Spends Thanksgiving Heartbroken After Keeping a Huge Secret from Villain Cody Brown

Sister Wives star Janelle Brown recently celebrated Thanksgiving, but the holiday was also a somber occasion for her.

With Sister Wives Season 19 currently airing, Cody Brown is still dealing with the fallout from Janelle, Christine, and Meri Brown leaving him for brighter futures, leaving him with only one wife, Robyn Brown.

Even after leaving Cody, Janelle isn’t afraid to keep secrets from her ex or throw shade at him. Amid this turmoil, the Sister Wives stars are mourning the tragic passing of Garrison Brown, who died in March 2024 at the age of 25.

Janelle Brown marked the first big holiday since the tragic loss in the Brown family. A few days after Thanksgiving, Janelle posted about celebrating the holiday.

It was a very bittersweet and heartbreaking day for her as this was the first major holiday without Garrison.

Janelle took to Instagram to share her thoughts, addressing her late son directly. She shared that she and her family got together in North Carolina and kept Garrison’s photo close by.

Despite being in mourning, they laughed about his silly sense of humor and shared several stories to honor him.

Even though her family has now returned home and life is resuming after Thanksgiving, Janelle still felt Garrison’s presence close by. Included in her post was a framed photo of her son as a little boy.

What Janelle’s First Thanksgiving Without Garrison Means

Everyone grieves the loss of a loved one differently. It’s not always expressed through tears, though there are often plenty of them.

Sometimes the best way to honor and pay tribute to a family member is by sharing heartwarming and funny stories and memories about the person with family and friends.

Based on her Instagram post, Janelle made sure to keep the day as uplifting as possible under the heartbreaking circumstances.

Since Garrison died in March, Thanksgiving marked the first major holiday—outside of Independence Day—that typically involves a large family gathering.

Next up is Christmas, arguably the biggest holiday of the year. Over the next few weeks, Janelle will face the holiday season on a grander scale as she continues to grieve.

Since she paid tribute to Garrison on Thanksgiving, it’s likely she will do the same for Christmas.

Our Take on Janelle’s Tribute

Unless someone has lost a child, it’s hard to truly fathom what Janelle has been going through over the past nine months.

She has been vulnerable with her social media followers about her grieving process and trying to cope with this enormous loss.

At the same time, she has had to carry on with her regular life, including work, celebrating milestones in her children’s lives, and filming Sister Wives.

Celebrating Thanksgiving with one less person at the table couldn’t have been easy, but Janelle has a strong support system to lift her up.
