The daytime community has lost another beloved veteran actor. Thom Christopher died on Dec. 5 at the age of 84.

His friend and celebrity photographer Steven Bergman shared the sad news on Facebook. “

Thom has been sick for quite a while now and fought through it all like a champ,” he wrote.

“He was such a smart man who gave great advice and told such fantastic stories.”

After starting his career with roles on The Edge of Night and Love of Life, Christopher first found fame playing the character of Hawk in the second season of the primetime sci-fi series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

He also played Dante Partou on Loving and Colonel Dax on Guiding Light, but the actor is best known to soap fans for his role of Carlo Hesser — and his twin brother, Mortimer Bern — on One Life to Live.

He earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 1992 for his work on that soap.

In addition to his roles in daytime, Christopher could be seen making guest appearances in series like T.J. Hooker, Murder, She Wrote, and Law & Order.
