‘Days Of Our Lives’ Sets Return Date For Emily O’Brien As Gwen

Days Of Our Lives Sets Return Date For Emily O’Brien As Gwen

Days Of Our Lives viewers are finally seeing storylines written by the new head writers after Ron Carlivati left the soap in 2024. Due to the show’s filming schedule, his scripts continued to air through April.

The new head writers recently gave a preview of what changes fans can expect to see. They revealed plans to focus on the legacy families – the DiMeras, Hortons, and Bradys. That also includes the Deveraux family. Whether Abigail (last played by Marci Miller) is alive or not remains to be seen. But in the meantime, Jack (Matt Ashford) will soon reunite with his other daughter, Gwen.

She was last seen in Salem in October 2023. In a soap opera switch-a-roo, Gwen left town just as Theresa Donovan, also played by Emily O’Brien, returned.

Theresa was sentenced to time in prison in July 2024 after she was exposed for forging a letter that Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) was heir to the Kiriakis family fortune. Xander (Paul Telfer) is the true heir and Victor’s (John Aniston) son.

Theresa briefly returned to Salem last month after getting out of prison. However, she left to go to California for a family emergency. But fans will see Emily O’Brien back on screen again soon.

Her return air date as Gwen is on July 7, 2025.

Fans React To Gwen’s Return

Emily O’Brien is clearly a talented actress. However, a lot of Days fans are tired of the revolving door of Theresa and Gwen. Viewers took to social media to react to the news of Gwen’s return.

• “It’s ridiculous to bring her back when Theresa has far more reasons to be in town, particularly in July when Tate will become a dad.”
• “Does anyone like this character? She could have been so many things other than Jack’s unknown daughter”
• “Does anybody know what on earth would bring her back to Salem because I see no reason for her being here?”
• “Blech”

Gwen isn’t the only familiar face to show up in Salem.

Days Of Our Lives fans can expect a lot of their favorite characters to return later this year to help celebrate the show’s 60th anniversary. Alison Sweeney and Louise Sorel recently returned as Sami Brady and Vivian Alamain, respectively.

According to Soap Opera Digest, fans can expect both characters to stick around for a little while. The outlet also revealed that the role of Arianna Horton has been recast. Marissa Reyes steps into the role of Will (Chandler Massey) and Gabi’s (Cherie Jimenez) daughter in May.
