“What Have I Done?” Janelle Brown Questions Her Divorce from Kody!
Sister Wives star Janelle Brown is now questioning her split from Kody Brown, two years after realizing the marriage was done.
They tied the knot in 1993, as Janelle became his second wife, and had six children. So, what would make Janelle reconsider the divorce? Keep reading for further details.
Janelle Brown Questions Divorce From Kody
When Janelle Brown came into the Sister Wives family, she had previously been married to Adam Barber. He was Kody Brown’s first wife, Meri Brown’s brother, so she and Janelle were in-laws.
They split, and she realized that she wanted to be a part of their plural family. In 1993, they tied the knot in a spiritual ceremony and went on to have six children. Unfortunately, the family went through a lot, but it reached its peak during the pandemic.
Janelle chose her children over her husband, and that became an issue. Kody became estranged from many of his kids, and eventually, Janelle.

He did not stay with her in the RV that she purchased to place on Coyote Pass. Furthermore, Kody stopped visiting their youngest daughter, Savanah. When all was said and done, Janelle was content not being in a marriage with Kody any longer.
He stated he wanted to reconcile, but mainly for their children. She did not care and has since moved from Flagstaff to North Carolina. There was the idea of her getting a church release, as that was what Meri did. She was the third and final wife to leave and went to their church to end her spiritual union.
To Janelle Brown, that did not matter much as the Sister Wives stars were not active in their church. Therefore, a release was the last thing she thought she needed:
“It didn’t even occur to me because [I’m] really not part of that church anymore. And then when Meri got one, I’m like, huh.”
Upon speaking with Meri and learning her reasoning, Janelle adds this:
“I’m not dating, but if I found somebody, I would never want there to be like a weird barrier in my head. I’ve been married for 30 years and it had validity for me. I don’t have to live plural marriage again. I don’t know if I’ll ever even marry again. But I’ve kept my faith. All of it’s intact except for that whole plural marriage thing. I don’t know about that.”
Ending The Marriage
Janelle Brown has previously stated that she is not divorced. Rather, the Sister Wives star believes she’s just single. At the same time, getting a spiritual divorce might be necessary for Janelle to start her new life with the right person. This all comes up on the Sunday, April 27th episode when Janelle and Meri Brown reconnect. That is when Janelle begins questioning ending the marriage:
“So just so that I’m sure I’m good, if I were to remarry, maybe it’s worth getting a spiritual divorce?”
Meri does offer to go with her former sister wife to obtain this release. However, it is unclear if he will actually go through with it or not. In the last episode, Kody Brown felt that Janelle saw him as a piece of meat, which made fans laugh:
- So now he claims he’s been used for his body?? 😂😂
- Oh yeah, she wanted him so much that she left flagstaff like a thief in the night. 😂 I hope Janelle has nothing but success and happiness from here out! ❤️
- This guy is a complete joke and the only thing good that came from him are his children. I am so glad the 3 women left
Time will tell if Janelle does get the release or if she stays “married” to Kody. Hopefully, she will find true happiness wherever she goes.
