Trapped and š³š¢ššš? Galen Geringās Horrific Experience Far From Home! DOOL Spoiler
On Sunday, Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) fromĀ Days of Our Lives (DOOL)Ā guest-starred on theĀ State of MindĀ podcast. Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) fromĀ General Hospital (GH)Ā had a long chat, and at one stage, Gering talked about how he nearly died very far from home.
A Very Scary Incident
The conversation between the twoĀ daytime drama starsĀ started off lightly, but then ventured on and became a bit serious. Gering has a way with words and he dished a lot of stories. The tale about him nearly losing his life arrived after he and Benard talked about Steve Burton and not judging people by their initial impression.

Much younger than he is now, Gering was busy making commercials, and he modeled a lot. Most people might envy him as heād only just graduated high school when he landed a gig modeling with an ItalianĀ company in Tunisia.
Not realizing that not everyone loves Americans, when filming in a small village, someone asked him where he came from. Gering said that he hailedĀ āfrom Los Angeles.āĀ Asked again, he confirmed it.
Well, Gering said that the man went a bit crazy, yelling and shouting,Ā āAmerica! We hate! We kill Americans!ā And then he nearly died.
Near To Death
TheĀ real-life Rafe HernandezĀ nearly never got to act hisĀ DOOLĀ role because a crowd formed around him. The then-18-year-old model described how the next few minutes were terrifying:
They start banging like on pots and theyāre like, āKill, kill!ā And Iām like, āWhat happened?ā Iām like 18 years old, what is even going on? And some guy, some like little pudgy guy comes up, heās like, āCome, come, come with me, come.’ā
For a moment, things flashed through Galen Geringās mind, like how heād heard of people beingĀ ādrugged and then like sold into slavery.āĀ He explained how he thought,Ā āOh my god, this is it, this is how it happens, like this is literally happening right now.ā
Chaos erupted, and the crew quickly started packing up. More people arrived, running to get to him. Heād mentioned that the time was close to when the USA killed Gaddafiās son in Libya, which borders on Tunisia. So, anti-American feelings were very high.
TheĀ daytime drama starĀ went on, describing the crowd asĀ āhostile,āĀ like aĀ āwasp nest, like mob mentality.āĀ So, it didnāt take a lot of persuading for Galen to go with the pudgy little guy. They ran away to some other place, and the Tunisian told him to lie down, which he did. Then, he threw a lot ofĀ ācarpets on top ofāĀ him.
The Narrow Escape
Maurice BenardĀ listened to the rest of the scary story without interrupting. Gering told theĀ GHĀ star,Ā āI hid under a pile of carpets⦠for like 15 minutes and then he like whisked me out some back way.ā
On top of that, Galen Gering said that the crew turned on him, saying they wouldnāt work with him anymore. When he questioned that, he was told, āThis is no good, youāre in trouble for this thing.āĀ Ending his tale of nearly being killed, Galen said,Ā āWe had to go to some like remote place.ā
The chat about his experience in Tunisia starts at the 29.17 marker in the video below.
