Al Calderon Comments On His Exit From Days Of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives spoilers note that as Al Calderon is heading to greener pastures, set to become a series regular on NBC’s Brilliant Minds, Season 2.
This means Calderon’s ‘days’ as Javi Hernandez are coming to an end. The actor recently spoke about his time on the Peacock soap, and we have all the details down below.
Heartfelt Days Goodbye
In the evening of August 6, Calderon hopped on Instagram and uploaded a message to his IG Stories. He started by saying, “My time on Days of Our Lives has been truly life-changing.
I’m endlessly grateful to the cast, crew, and creatives who made me feel seen, valued, and part of a legacy family.”
Calderon went on to say, “I’ll carry the love, lessons, and memories with me on every journey I go on. While I’m just a small grain of sand, I’m just happy I got to pass through the hourglass.”
The actor concluded with, “As my mom used to tell me – it’s not goodbye, just see you later. I love you forever.”
Calderon tagged the Days IG handle on the post. Greg Rikaart, who plays Calderon’s love interest, Leo Stark, on the Days canvas, reposted his colleague’s message on IG, noting, “You’re a class act AND a star” – tagging Calderon’s IG Handle.
What’s Happening To Javi Hernandez?
Due to DOOL’s advanced filming schedule (the soap shoots several months ahead of broadcast), fans will continue to see Calderon in the Javi role until the spring of 2026 (potentially beyond).
With that said, a recent Days spokesperson did hint that, “We do not comment on the contract status of our actors, but fans should not worry, ‘Javi’ is alive and well in Salem.”
In addition, both Deadline and Soap Opera Digest are reporting that Peacock will be looking at recasting the Javi Hernandez character.
The bad news is that Calderon will be missed; however, the good news is, Javi won’t be leaving storylines, which means more chapters for the character to play out for fans.
