However, beyond his on-screen role, Casey’s reflections on his return to the Days set have sparked even more interest.

The Days of Our Lives production has long been a place of camaraderie and drama, much like the fictional Salem itself. But in 2023, a real-life controversy sent shock waves through the cast and fans.

Following a lengthy internal investigation into allegations of misconduct, co-executive producer Albert Alarr was fired, leaving the show’s future at a critical juncture.

The allegations of harassment and a toxic work environment under Alarr’s leadership led to a serious reckoning for the show’s production.

Former Days star Arianne Zucker even filed a lawsuit against Alarr, claiming harassment and other serious infractions.

For Casey, who was part of Days during Alarr’s tenure, Alarr’s firing marked a turning point in what he describes as the toxic environment of his early years on the show.

Now back on set, Casey describes a remarkable difference. When asked about his experience this time, he shared that the atmosphere now is “the healthiest set I’ve ever seen.”

He attributes this positive shift to Janet Drucker, promoted to co-executive producer after Alarr’s departure, who has fostered a new culture of respect and integrity.

For Casey, this overdue change has reinvigorated the production. “The people here want to be here and do their best work,” he said, highlighting the transformation.

This new perspective offers fans hope that the series, beloved for more than half a century, is on a path to keep it thriving and vibrant.

But the set’s positive changes weren’t the only things on Casey’s mind. The Days cast and fans have also been grappling with a deeply personal loss that left an irreplaceable void.

In September, the Days family lost one of its most cherished members: Drake Hogestyn, the legendary actor who portrayed John Black for nearly 40 years.

Drake wasn’t just a talented actor; he was an icon, mentor, and friend to so many on set. His passing was not only a farewell to his character but a farewell to a man whose kindness and integrity left a lasting legacy.

For Casey Moss, the loss was especially poignant. For years, Casey’s dressing room was next to Drake’s, allowing him to witness the humility and grace that Drake brought to every interaction, whether with co-stars, fans, or crew members.

Reflecting on Drake, Casey shared his admiration: “He was everything you could hope to be in the industry,” he said, filled with reverence. “He was never arrogant and always respectful.”

Casey shared a cherished memory that perfectly captured Drake’s spirit. After Casey left Days years ago, he found himself working at a restaurant.

One evening, Drake came in with his family. Spotting Casey, he walked over, placed his familiar hand on Casey’s shoulder, and gave him a big hug—just as he had countless times on set.

For Casey, this gesture was a moment of genuine warmth and acceptance, reminding him of their connection and Drake’s unwavering respect for everyone.

The people behind this drama have shown resilience, grace, and a commitment to the magic that has kept Days on our screens for decades.

The show may evolve, and faces may come and go, but we continue to hope to see more of JJ on Days of Our Lives in the future.
