‘DOOL’ Shawn-Douglas Steps In To Save Bo, Is It Too Late?

Bo Brady has been in a coma on DOOL since 2023. His family got bad news about his health this week on the show. He needs a special drug to save him from dying. But the drug is unavailable. His son, Shawn-Douglas Brady, is willing to put it all on the line to save his dad. Is it too late?

Shawn-Douglas Struggles After Putting Bo In Coma

Shawn-Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer) feels immense guilt for his dad’s current situation. And he should. As viewers know, Shawn-D is the reason his father is in a coma in the first place.

He shot Bo (Peter Reckell) in 2023. Shawn thought his mother, Hope (Kristian Alfonso,) was in danger. He had good reason to wonder, as Bo had recently been brainwashed and was about to kill Hope. But right before he pulled the trigger, Hope got through to him, and his memories of their love returned.

Unfortunately, it was too late. At that moment, Shawn-Douglas came upon his parents and shot Bo to protect his mother. Bo has been in a coma ever since.

Hope and Shawn-D were shocked that Bo was even alive in the first place. He died in Hope’s arms in 2015 from a terminal brain cancer. But death is rarely forever on soap operas.

Sadly, it will be when DOOL kills off John Black in June. Drake Hogestyn passed away in real life in September 2024. He worked with the soap before he died on how to give John a proper farewell.

Willing To Do Anything It Takes To Save His Dad

Bo’s family found out this week that he’s suffering from sepsis and needs a special medication ASAP. Unfortunately, the doctor working on the treatment refused to hand it over to Kayla (Mary Beth Evans.) Driven by his guilt, Shawn-Douglas is determined to save his father.

He went to his Uncle Steve (Stephen Nicholas) for help. The two decided to team up to steal the medication from the doctor’s office. As a cop, breaking the law goes against everything Shawn-D stands for. But he’s willing to put his career and reputation on the line to save Bo’s life.

Brandon Beemer, who has played Shawn-Douglas since 2006, spoke to Soap Opera Digest about his character’s desperation.

“Shawn and Steve have to take matters into their own hands once they learn about this possibility, once they find out that [this drug] is a possible way of saving Bo’s life. And Shawn is going to be a part of it. Shawn needs to save his dad’s life. His job doesn’t matter to him. His dad’s life matters. Shawn will do anything and everything he can, even if it means losing his job and getting arrested,” the actor said.

Is DOOL Killing Off Bo Brady?

With John Black’s death around the corner, how much heartbreak can DOOL fans take at once? We know that Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso are returning to the soap. They already filmed their scenes that will start airing this month. Brandon Beemer told SOD how happy he was to reunite with his on-screen parents. But he stayed mum about whether Bo lives or dies.

Do you think DOOL will kill off Bo Brady or wake him from the coma? Sound off in the comments.
