Rafe Returns to Demand the Truth of EJ’s Shooting from Gabi, While Jada Faces Her Own Uncomfortable Questions
Holly’s in her room, trying to figure out what to say to Doug, but when she sends him a text saying he didn’t have to leave, he doesn’t even open it. She then tries calling and gets no answer.
Doug, meanwhile, heads into the pub, filling out an application with Roman. He’s a bit nervous when he gets to the address part, but when he admits he’s living in a homeless shelter, Roman reassures him that there’s nothing wrong with that. Plus, he’s got a room for rent.
Doug gets all sad about being more trouble than he’s worth and is about to give up on the job and room, but Roman sits him back down. “You don’t just need a job, you need some guidance as well.”
Roman tells Doug he’s been there, too, and there’s always time to turn this around. The job and room are both his — he’ll loan Doug rent money and take it out of his check. Doug’s touched and takes it.
Gabi and Rafe Take On Leo
Rafe’s back from his job and spots Leo’s suspect list. When Leo waltzes into the kitchen, Rafe wastes no time in laying into him about it. Investigate him all Leo wants, but stay the hell away from Gabi. She’s not going to prison a third time for a crime she didn’t commit.
Gabi summons Javi in to yell at him about typos in the report she had him repair. But yeah, it’s not about typos. She’s worried about Gabi Chic, being a suspect in EJ’s shooting and is ticked at Javi defending Leo.
Gabi takes a breath, heads out to get something to eat and leaves Javi to work on the sales report. She leaves at just the right time, because Leo shows up with dinner! That and he’s running away from Rafe. Javi tries to usher him out, but doesn’t get rid of him before Gabi comes back in to yell at him some more.
She storms out and tells Javi to get rid of Leo. “Working for Gabi has become a nightmare,” Javi sighs when she’s gone. Leo pushes him again to quit before his relationship with his cousin is ruined.
Shawn Asks Jada If She Shot EJ
Shawn surprises Jada at work, saying he’s sticking around to help her figure out who shot EJ. Ava’s still missing, but there are plenty of other suspects around. Like, maybe… Jada? Shawn awkwardly brings up the whole Rafe/Arnold/EJ thing — not to mention Jada’s missing gun the night of EJ’s shooting.
It’s OK, Jada assures him with a smile, then launches into how very capable she was of shooting him. But she didn’t do it. She locked her gun in her drawer because she didn’t trust herself in that headspace.
Shawn calls an annoyed Rafe to ask when he’s planning on turning in his gun. He’ll get it back soon, he snaps. He’s been a little busy rejoining the FBI.
Leo pops in for a comment for the paper, listing the suspects he thinks did it: Gabi, Rafe or… Jada! Shawn’s about to toss him out, but Jada just says the Salem PD has no comment and tells Leo to go.
Rafe Questions Gabi About EJ
Gabi gets back home and starts unleashing all her frustrations on Rafe — who just sits there. He stands up, turns around and asks her point blank if she shot EJ with his gun. “Seriously, Rafe?”
Gabi loses it, but Rafe knows she took his gun the night EJ was shot. So did she go to the mansion with his gun? Fine, yes, she did. But she heard EJ arguing with someone when she got there. She’s not sure who, but it was a male voice, so she ran off. No, she did not shoot EJ DiMera!
Rafe pauses, then says he believes her. “I just wish you had told me all of this a little bit sooner.” Gabi then admits that she saw Ava standing by the front door, but she ran off when she heard Gabi. So she’s probably not the shooter.
