In Days’ September 2 episode, Javi decided to have a conversation with Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) about possibly adopting Tesoro.

Since Javi has grown so attached to the little fella, he was hoping that maybe he could give Tesoro a forever home and raise him in Salem with Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart).

Of course, Javi got a reminder about Leo’s rap sheet and the fact that they’re not legal partners yet.

Melinda suggested Javi could adopt as a single father, but the topic of a thorough background check worried him.

That’s when Javi admitted he had a child who died, so Melinda pointed out there’d be an investigation into that child’s demise.

Javi got choked up and admitted that’s what he was afraid of before bolting out the door with Tesoro.

DOOL fans have already seen Javi gazing longingly at a pic of himself holding a baby girl on his phone.

Arianna “Ari” Horton (Marissa Reyes) also told Javi that he would’ve been a great dad, but he urged her to keep everything a secret from Leo since it’d be too hard to explain.

It’s possible Javi was a sperm donor for a friend and planned to help raise their little girl together or something along those lines.

Whatever the case, Javi apparently fathered a child who passed away, but Days hasn’t revealed the story behind this baby girl’s grim fate.

It’s clear that Javi feels responsible on some level, but is he really to blame?

There’s a chance Javi was distracted somehow and perhaps wasn’t watching the baby as closely as he should’ve been when disaster struck.

However, Days viewers know Javi obviously isn’t the type to do anything too terrible.

There’s no way Javi is hiding some awful criminal secret, so maybe this won’t be the adoption deal-breaker that he’s expecting.

Regardless, Javi can’t keep the truth hidden from Leo indefinitely. At some point, Javi will have to confess the whole story and let his emotions pour out.
