Johnny Wactor’s Former Boss Speaks Out on the General Hospital Star’s Senseless Murder

It’s been over a week since the sudden, tragic death of General Hospital’s Johnny Wactor (ex-Brando), and after many outpouring condolences by his daytime peers, fans and the woman he protected that fatal night, his last employer took to social media to share theirs as well.

Level 8, a bar/restaurant in downtown Los Angeles, was the last place Wactor was seen prior to being shot and killed after leaving the establishment following his early morning hour shift. He’d been walking with a female co-worker, Anita Joy, to their cars when they spotted three men by Wactor’s Toyota Prius. Though he thought they were attempting to tow it, the co-workers came upon a theft in progress. Wactor then stood in front of Joy and for no reason at all, one of the men shot him before fleeing the scene, which led to the actor dying in her arms.

Joy took to her Instagram to recount that horrible night and what she believed the establishment needed to do in the wake of Wactor’s death. “Level 8 needs to provide parking for their late hour staff as they originally promised,” Joy stated. “This cannot be something that isn’t responded to with action, it needs to be addressed in a manner to prevent anything like this ever happening again to the best of their ability — Level 8 needs to contribute to Johnny’s family to honor and respect him for all the hard work and effort he did for them.”

A couple of days later, a post was made on Level 8’s Instagram page that stated, “It is with a heavy heart that we mourn a valued and cherished team member, Johnny Wactor, whom we lost to a random act of violence a week ago.” It went on to express how difficult it has been for those who knew Wactor, someone who was very much beloved by his peers and co-workers. “We will all miss his talent and generous spirit. Our hearts go out to his family and everyone affected by this senseless, terrible tragedy.”

Level 8 made it clear that they take safety “very seriously” and continued, “Since we opened, we have provided the option for security escorts to the nearby parking lot to our staff after hours. And in light of this tragic incident, we have been talking to our team and professionals in the field, and are actively researching additional safety measures for our staff.” They are very much aware how this tragedy impacts everyone “differently and profoundly” and added, “We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for everyone at Level 8.”

Not only has the actor’s godmother, Michaelle Kinard, created a GoFundMe, Justice for Johnny, to help raise money in order for his family to travel 2000 miles, as many times as it takes, to deal with this heartache, many are urging Los Angeles City councilmember Kevin de León to bring urgency to the investigation surrounding Wactor’s death.
