Emma Samms Surprised by Sasha’s On-Screen Revelation
Emma Samms, who plays Holly Sutton on General Hospital, was thrilled to learn she had an on-screen daughter, Sasha, played by Sofia Mattsson. Samms describes Mattsson as “absolutely delightful and an incredible actress.”
The October 16 episode of General Hospital shocked viewers when Sasha called Holly “Mother” after answering the door.
Even more surprising was the revelation in the October 17 episode that Sasha’s father is Robert Scorpio. This twist left fans in shock, especially since Sasha nearly slept with her cousin, Cody, who is Mac’s son.
Samms recalls the excitement behind the scenes when the cast learned about the storyline.
Even the camera crew gasped during rehearsals, which Samms took as a great sign. “It’s going to please some people, upset others, but surprise everyone!” she said, delighted by the reaction.
Samms didn’t know about this plot twist when she first signed on for her recent return. Upon learning about it, she had the same reaction as everyone else: shock.
Before filming, Samms had never worked with or even met Sofia Mattsson, making their first scene together all the more intense.
Despite the emotional nature of the scene, Samms praised Mattsson for her professionalism and talent.
Playing a flawed mother was challenging for Samms, who is a devoted mother in real life. Her daughter encouraged her to fully embrace the role, reminding her it was just acting.
This is not Holly’s first secret child. In 2009, it was revealed that she had a son, Ethan, with Luke Spencer
. As for why Holly kept Sasha’s paternity a secret, the show provided a detailed backstory, explaining how circumstances led Holly to withhold this information.
The revelation became urgent when Sasha started getting close to Cody, prompting Holly to confess the truth.
The relationship between Holly and Sasha is complicated, as Sasha resents her mother for being absent at times. Robert, too, will likely struggle with Holly’s deception, especially given how long she kept this secret from him.
While Samms doesn’t think there are more undisclosed children for Holly, she teasingly reminded fans, “It is a soap, after all. Unlimited possibilities!”
