General Hospital Preview: Sam’s — Gulp! — Last Request

In the brand-new General Hospital preview for Thursday, Oct. 24, Sam is just trying to get some rest before going under the knife to donate part of her liver to boo Dante’s former wife, Lulu.

Should be easy, right, especially with patient advocate Felicia hovering to second the motion. But no, into Sam’s room comes… someone — and not someone she seems especially pleased to see, either.

“You want something,” she tells her uninvited guest. “You always do.”

Who is it, and what do they request of Sam? That, we won’t find out until airtime.

In other developments, Portia, reeling from the news of Heather’s imminent release, considers Plan B to deal with the threat if her Plan A fails. But wasn’t tampering with The Hook Killer’s lab-test results Plan A? In any case, although Ric is sure that his client is no longer a menace to society, we could make — and have made — a case for why when she was locked up, the key should have been thrown away. Read it here.

Ever the optimist, Laura insists to Isaiah that, the odds be damned, “If you give Lulu the chance, she will win again.” Brennan tells Carly, “If you have to ask, you’re not as smart as I thought you were.” Snap! And Jason and Sonny put their heads together as they try to pull a literal fast one.

There’s Still a Glimmer of Hope for Sam… But You Have to Squint to See It

We can hear it as well as you can, the sound of a clock tick, tick, ticking down to General Hospital fave Sam taking her last breath. But the preview for the Wednesday, Oct. 23, episode still holds out hope that Kelly Monaco’s character may be given a last-minute reprieve.

As you’ll see below, though only yesterday Lucas agreed to operate on his half sister — read the recap — Isaiah makes a case for why he should perform the surgery on Lulu.

Since the new doctor in town is supposed to be the best of the best, heaven knows he’s somebody you’d want on hand in the O.R. If things go south with Sam, Isaiah could leap into action to help Lucas save her… that is, if he isn’t up to his wrists in Lulu’s transplant at that point.

Yeah, we know. We’re grasping at straws. The writing was on the wall for Sam when the news broke this summer that Monaco had been let go. It is a head-scratcher, though, why the character would be written off just as Lulu was being awakened (with All My Children vet Alexa Havins stepping into the role). You would think that the show would want to play the Lulu/Dante/Sam triangle that we’ve been anticipating since Sonny’s son and ex-lover got together.
