Trina accidentally Discovers The Truth, Jens Austin Astrup Reveals GH’s New Secret GH Spoilers

Kai didn’t make the best first impression on Trina on General Hospital when she realized he was a classmate from her art history class who wasn’t turning up and dragging her grade down.

But Tabyana Ali made a great impression on daytime newcomer Jen Austin Astrup when he auditioned for the role.

Trina’s portrayer put Astrup and the other actors at ease first at the callback and then again when they returned for a screen test.

“Tabyana actually came to say what’s up and to run the scene with all of us, and that was amazing,” he told Soap Opera Digest.

“She clearly thought about each person that day, and even gave me a note. She was rooting for me; I really felt like, ‘She’s not just doing this because it’s her job. She wants to do this, and she’s here and she’s present.’”

Of course, after an initial meet-cute at the Surf Lodge, Trina realized who Kai was and was decidedly unimpressed with the PCU star quarterback who was more focused on football than academics. However, he remained smitten with her, which will naturally cause some friction.

“I think with Kai, what is clear is that there’s something about her where I really care about her reaction,” Astrup explained.

“What she thinks of me matters a lot to me. It’s clear that it matters more than normal, and for some reason, her reaction towards me and what she has to say can really affect me. And it kind of drives Kai to prove her wrong.”

The actor is also hoping to prove himself to Sprina fans who may not be too happy about seeing Trina romantically involved with someone other than Spencer.

“I don’t feel intimidated because I feel that this [potential romance] actually exists on its own plan than Sprina,” Astrup mused.

“I think we have a very different dynamic. I don’t feel that I’m competing or have to fill the shoes of Spencer. I don’t feel like I’m taking his spot. I just feel excited to get to know Tabyana better and for Kai to get to know Trina better.”
