Zach Roloff Admits Relationship with Dad Matt is Nonexistent, Denies Withholding Kids Amid Feud
Today, I’ll explain everything about the ongoing feud between Zach and Matt Roloff from Little People Big World.
“The dust is settled, but nothing’s been fixed,” Zach Roloff said about his relationship with his father Matt, as they revisit old wounds with the airing of new episodes of Little People Big World on TLC.
Even though the show is currently off-air, the tension between Zach and Matt remains unresolved.
In an episode of Zach and Tori Roloff’s podcast Raising Heights on May 23, Zach, 34, revealed that his relationship with his father Matt, 62, was not great while answering fans’ questions.
“It’s not existent, I guess,” Zach said, looking down. Tori, 33, explained that most viewers don’t realize episodes are filmed a year in advance. When the show airs, the tension is relived for a second time. “The dust is settled, but like nothing’s been fixed,” Zach added.
Zach claimed that those involved in the feud are still in denial and believe they didn’t do anything wrong. He described his rift with his father as a toxic relationship that he’s put up with for too long.
Zach confessed that his biggest issue is with people outside the feud encouraging him to reconcile. “For me, it was time to step away, and I stepped away,” he said, addressing those who want him to make peace with Matt.
Tori addressed misconceptions that they are withholding their children from spending time with their grandparents. “There’s none of that going on,” she said, adding that adult relationships are complicated, especially within families.
The feud between Matt and Zach goes back further than most realize. Zach spent his childhood on Roloff Farms, working with his dad and believing he would one day help run it.
However, when Matt put 16 acres of Roloff Farms on the market in early 2022, it sent a clear message that he wasn’t passing on the farm to his children. Zach felt betrayed, which turned their dynamic into a full-blown feud.
Zach’s twin brother, Jeremy, and his wife, Audrey, had already given up on the idea of inheriting the farm. Matt had offered Zach a parcel of land at a price he couldn’t afford, further straining their relationship.
In a 2022 episode of Little People Big World, Matt gifted Zach a lawnmower, suggesting it could help mend their relationship. Zach appreciated the gesture but acknowledged that the relationship remained tense.
Zach and Tori eventually decided to find their own home away from the farm. They now have a spacious home in Oregon with their own land, full of potential projects for Zach. Although they are still part of Little People Big World, Matt plays a much smaller role in their lives.
With the start of season 25 of Little People Big World in February 2024, viewers knew that tensions remained high. Matt lamented the time he’s missing with his grandchildren after alienating their parents.
However, Zach and Tori are moving forward with their lives. In an exclusive interview, Zach revealed that he and his father have made up, stating, “It’s all good. We’re all family.”
Although Zach regrets airing their disputes on social media, he’s focused on moving forward with his wife Tori and their children in their new home in Battleground, Washington.
