“It will be a year on Monday and we miss the hell out of Anna Marie Cardwell,” June wrote in a Facebook post Dec. 4. “Would give my last penny to just talk to her and [for] her [to] be here for her girls.”

Anna—who was mom to Kaitlyn, 12, and Kylee, 8—died last year after a battle with stage four adrenal carcinoma, and June admitted that waves of grief still overcome her at times, noting that those grieving have “no control” over when or how it hits them. June emphasized that the loss of her 29-year-old daughter is unlike the grief of losing any other family member.

The 45-year-old detailed that living in the same house she used to live in with Anna is difficult, but it is just one way she keeps her “promise” to her late daughter to keep her with the family—and she will even talk aloud to her daughter before leaving the house.

June—who is also mom to Jessica, 28, Lauryn, 24, Alana, 19, and currently guardian of Anna’s daughter Kaitlyn—also shared another way she keeps her daughter with her.

“She is still in our family group chat text,” June added. “Just can’t and won’t delete any text and won’t ever take her out [of] the chat.”
