Sister Wives – Kody Brown Is Rage – Baiting Viewers | Season 19

Well, don’t blame me for not loving you, I was doing my duty. Blame yourself if I don’t love you.

Okay, what do you do if you’ve completely lost the plot of the polygamy propaganda show that you have spent the last 15 years of your life building?

Well, if you’re a narcissist like Cody Brown, whose only fear is poverty, and you literally have nothing left to lose except said show, I suppose you would just do your absolute darnedest to ensure the last thing you have left — your TV show — keeps going.

Fans Shocked At Kody Brown's Changed Face For Season 19

And how has Cody Brown seemingly decided to continue drawing viewers every week for season 19? Well, it looks like he’s turning to rage-baiting us, and it’s working a little bit.

Hey everyone, what’s up? It’s Sarah, and welcome back to my channel. So, according to Wikipedia, in internet slang, rage-baiting (also referred to as rage-farming) is the manipulative tactic of eliciting outrage with the goal of increasing internet traffic, online engagement, revenue, and support.

Rage-baiting or rage-farming can be used as a tool to increase engagement, attract subscribers, followers, and supporters, which can be financially lucrative.

Rage-baiting and rage-farming manipulates users to respond in kind to offensive, inflammatory headlines, memes, tropes, or comments.

We see a lot of rage-baiting over on TikTok these days, and I feel like this is exactly what Cody Brown is doing to us. I feel like every episode of season 19, we have been watching Cody’s mental state devolve.

This dude is clearly unwell, and this sit-down at Mary’s was just bizarre and erratic.

He is simultaneously bemoaning how long it took Mary to get the hint that their marriage was never going to “make fetch happen,” and he’s also shocked at how quickly she seemingly moved to get a release. I’m just sitting here watching, thinking, what is happening?

There was a super unsettling moment during this conversation where Mary actually seems taken off guard by where Cody was steering the conversation. At one point, she even threatened to shut filming down:

“That’s really nice, I didn’t know we were having a fight here. I did not know that this was a fight conversation because I’m not. I’m not open to that. I’ll shut it down right now.”

I get the feeling Mary was sensing how dark this conversation could potentially get, and she did not want cameras capturing it. It kind of confirms for me that Cody can be emotionally unpredictable when cameras aren’t rolling.

I mean, we saw him lash out last season with that “tall the world” fight at Janelle’s. More and more, I just have this fear that we are witnessing the prologue to a Dateline episode.

Obviously, I hope I’m wrong, but this guy is just seriously not okay, and he also doesn’t care anymore.

For years, we have heard about this “cloak of charity” that Cody and the wives afforded each other. Like, they’re sharing their lives with viewers, but they’re not going to drag anyone through the mud.

The Sister Wives Conflicts Kody Brown Seemingly Dramatized For TLC

You can tell that over the years, Cody, Mary, Janelle, Christine, and Robin have all protected each other’s public image, and Cody could manipulate his wives into behaving for the cameras by dangling affection and intimacy as a reward for being “good.”

Well, now the majority of his kids are adults with their own minds and their own relationships with him. They can speak for themselves, and they can speak on their own relationship with Cody.

Cody has successfully torched any kind of good feelings or good sentiments between himself and his original three (now ex-wives).

There’s no way for Cody to salvage any kind of good vibes between himself and his original family, so now we see him pivot into fully embracing his villain era in season 19.

There’s no chance he’s going to be able to redeem his public image, whether it’s with viewers or his family.

So, what we see is this sort of half-hearted attempt to save Robin in the court of public opinion — which is just weird — and then Cody just diving into the deep end of completely unhinged and erratic behavior.
