Breanking News: Massive Overhaul Turns Bold & Beautiful Into a Whole New Show

In retrospect, we should have seen it coming. Big changes were occurring on The Bold and the Beautiful but little by little so we didn’t pay that much attention to them. Now, though, when we look at what the soap has become on the other end of its transformation, we realize that it’s a whole different show!
Consider: Sheila, once one of daytime’s most fearsome villainesses, has been rebranded as a vulnerable romantic lead. And if anybody forgets it, she has Finn around to note that his Biological Mother™ is a hero. (Never mind all the people she’s shot, kidnapped or otherwise terrorized.)
Hope, a theoretical sane person, has gone crazy — to the point that she has gotten behind ex-con dad Deacon’s relationship with Sheila, whose rap sheet is longer than our Costco receipts. Hope has also been labeled a bad guy because, given the warped morality of Bold & Beautiful, it was wrong of her to get involved with Thomas if she didn’t want to immediately jump from one marriage to the next. How very dare she!
Speaking of characters who have done complete 180s, Brooke has joined Team Steffy. Yep, Hope’s support of her father’s ill-advised marriage has prompted even her mother side with Ridge’s daughter instead of her own. And we’d have sworn that a Forrester would wear something off the rack before that would happen!
But wait, there’s more!
Zende, who originally set out to seduce Luna just to get back at his cousin R.J., is now defended at every turn — by, of all people, Luna, who wouldn’t even dream of blaming him for having sex with her when he knew full well that she was in love with someone else. And don’t even get us started on how her out-of-it behavior at the party that preceded the hookup should have tipped off Zende or any sentient being to the fact that she was too dazed to consent. That’s not even a consideration now, as he accessorizes every ensemble with a halo. Meanwhile…
Poppy, through no fault of her own, has been slapped with a scarlet “M” for mints. Heaven knows that she didn’t intend for her daughter to get so loopy off her breath-freshening drugs that she went to bed with the wrong guy. She didn’t even intend for her daughter to get into her stash. But that doesn’t matter on the “new” Bold & Beautiful. It says that it is OK to cast stones at Poppy as if she malevolently set up Luna to be violated.
On and on go the massive changes. Bill, once a mover and a shaker, is now a resident of the backburner. At least he has Carter and Katie there to keep him company. Paris has vanished into thin air. Taylor has gone from protective Mother of the Year material back to being Absentee Parent of the Millennium. Heck, about the only thing that hasn’t changed is that Finn is still a dolt. A bullet in the chest and a kidnapping weren’t enough to convince him before that Sheila is a menace to society, and now that (oh dear!) something bad has happened to her, he’s surer than ever that angel wings hang in her closet.
But who knows? At the rate things are changing at Bold & Beautiful, Finn could actually wise up one day and decide that maybe aligning himself with the psycho who tried to murder his wife in cold blood isn’t the best look for him. It’s anything goes these days!
