Rebecca Budig is back on soaps! Awesome, right? But let’s talk about her latest soap gig — playing Dr. Taylor Hayes on The Bold and the Beautiful. She made a brief appearance on the August 6th episode and officially took over the role on the August 16th episode as Taylor returned to town.

Budig has quite the soap opera experience, having portrayed characters like Michelle Bauer on Guiding Light, Greenlee Smythe on All My Children, and Hayden Barnes on General Hospital. She’s also been nominated 6 times for a Daytime Emmy Award. So, her return to the soap screen was definitely appreciated, and fans were buzzing with excitement when the surprise casting was revealed.

Rebecca Budig: A New Taylor

Despite her talent, the real concern that plagued the minds of many is how she could pass as Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) mom. Some say she could totally pass as Steffy’s sister, cousin, aunt, or even just about anyone else but her mom. But hey, it’s a soap opera — stranger things have gone down — and worked out just fine.

As for our soap grade so far, we’ll give Budig a solid B — and the only draw back is our aforementioned concern. We can’t wait to see Taylor coming face-to-face with her nemesis Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and the love of her life, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). What do you think?
