The Young and the Restless

Did Young and the Restless Just Drop a Major Clue About a Returning Character?

Jill finally told Billy why she’d elevated his position on The Young and the Restless earlier this week. She was having some health problems and was in London, getting treatment from her brother, Snapper. Viewers hadn’t heard about Snapper — last played by Baywatch and Knight Rider himself, David Hasselhoff — in years. In decades. Is this Y&R’s way of saying that the Foster and Brooks families are heading back to Genoa City? Via one particular character?

Double Trouble

Long before GC was dominated by the Newmans and the Abbotts, it was the Fosters and Brookses taking center stage. The two founding families were united when Christen “Chris” Brooks wed Dr. William “Snapper” Foster. Their daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Foster, was born in 1981. Which would make her, if she aged normally and not soap-style, in her early 40s now. Genoa City could use a new character in her early 40s.

Especially one who isn’t a Newman, an Abbott, or a Chancellor — but still has strong ties to the canvas. Her only male relatives would be Billy (Jason Thompson) and Chance (Conner Floyd). But she could date absolutely anyone else. Wouldn’t Nick (Joshua Morrow) like a woman who wasn’t Sharon (Sharon Case) or Phyllis (Michelle Stafford)? How about Nate (Sean Dominic)? How about Adam (Mark Grossman, who experienced a heartbreaking loss)? Heck, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Victor (Eric Braeden) had skipped over decades before. And they knew Chris (and tiny Jennifer) when she still lived in Genoa City!

The Nest Generation

And if Jennifer is in her early 40s, she very well could have teen-age kids. Let’s say a boy and a girl. One named Stuart, after Chris’ father, and one named Lizzie, after Snapper’s mother.

Genoa City desperately needs a teen scene — who aren’t all related. So bring back Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant), bring back Faith (Reylynn Caster), bring back Moses (Jacob Aaron Gaines), Mattie (Lexie Stevenson), Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry), and Reed (Tristan Lake LeBeau). Throw in Stuart and Lizzie, and now we’ve got a whole teen scene to rival the old Glow By Jabot house! Now we have a summer party to celebrate!
